THE ROSTIE GROUP - Press Release May 2008
Cynthia Rostie elected President of newly-minted OBCACAN.
OFFICE BUSINESS CENTRE ASSOCIATION CANADA FORMED IN TORONTO

TORONTO, Canada – May 30, 2008 - In the first initiative of its kind in Canada, a group of independent office business centre owners and managers have agreed to form an Office Business Centre Association (OBCA). Cynthia Rostie, President of the Rostie Group, has been elected to head up the new association during its inaugural year. Members will work together to increase industry profile and to improve exposure of Canadian centres in the global marketplace.

Office Business Centres exist worldwide to provide furnished, serviced office space, meeting rooms and related support to businesses of all types. Globally, Office Business Centres represents about 5% of commercial office space. In North America the statistic, while lower, is growing rapidly. As companies become aware of business centre offerings, an increasing number are taking advantage of the capital savings. By leveraging the use of Office Business Centres for geographic expansion, project/team space, meeting rooms, etc. companies directly improve their bottom line.

Increases in the cost of commercial real estate make the flexibility of Office Business Centre services increasingly valuable. The practical use of outside space for meeting purposes is the most obvious capital savings. Companies minimize the need to designate expensive square footage as meeting/boardroom area within their offices. Project or team space savings through use of an office business is also a simple cost equation. Leased space requires multi-year commitment, whereas projects are often planned in terms of weeks or months. The flexible terms of Office Business Centres can provide a support-rich environment in time increments that match project goals.

Geographic expansion, both local and international, is often made easier by the use of Office Business Centres. Companies requiring presence in a new market can work within an Office Business Centre to expand and test the viability of planned growth. Ms. Rostie emphasizes that improved global exposure for Office Business Centres will attract international companies to Canada, bringing foreign investment into our marketplace.

The goals of the OBCACAN members are inclusive of improved business, both for the Office Business Centres and for strengthening the markets in which they operate.

The OBCACAN is supported by the OBCAI (Office Business Center Association International, Inc.), the international trade association representing office business center owners.
