It’s Better By The Water: Your Work-Life Balance on the Toronto Waterfront

There is always something going on at the Toronto Waterfront, whether it be festivals, art galleries, pop-up shops, trips to the island and much more.

All of these exciting things to do are perfect for not only tourists visiting our city, but for professionals who would like to work in the area. One of the largest draws to this area are the beautiful summertime water and city views.

Visiting on a lunch break or after work with co-workers, friends, family or solo to explore the waterfront can prevent burnout and be good for your mental health.

We’ve compiled a list of the top things to do while on the waterfront to work and play.

Explore the Toronto Islands

There are many activities on the island including walking, biking, and enjoying the evening. There is a ferry and a couple private owned water taxis. There are restaurants on the island to be enjoyed along with many spaces to bring your own meal.

Rent a kayak and canoe

Get out on the water and explore the skyline all while getting a workout in. Lessons are available for those who have never tried before.

Toronto Music Garden

Listen to music while enjoying the city, park and waterfront atmosphere. This park is different from most in the city because of its array of flowers and breathtaking water views.

Rogers Centre

Grab tickets for an evening baseball game, enjoy a hot dog and get your team together after work to cheer on the Blue Jays.

Sugar Beach

On the eastern side of the harbourfront, it is a nice place to go read a book or catch a tan in the sand on your lunch hour.

HTO Park

This beautiful park is well known for holding annual events and festivals on the harbourfront.  Be sure to stop by, as you never know what vendors will be on-site.

Beavertails & other Treats

There are many options for snacks and treats on the harbourfront including Beavertails, a Canadian favourite and The Fix for ice cream by the water.

Grab a bite to eat

There are many restaurants that offer various delicious dishes along the harbourfront including pub food, pizza, steam, sushi and the list goes on.

Visit the Powerplant Art Gallery

This beautiful (and historic) building showcases contemporary pieces from artists across the city. Exhibitions are switched out frequently so you can never go too many times.

The Rec Room

This playgorund for adults is the perfect place for a team-building evening full of games and a bite to eat.

Being able to enjoy the summer weather by the water is something that can be done regularly when working at The Rostie Group.
